SeOne nightclub closes due to recession
Monday, 01 March 2010
A NIGHTCLUB which was the scene of a fatal dance floor shooting, has shut down, blaming the recession.
SeOne nightclub in Weston Street, London Bridge, shut its doors for the last time on Monday after eight years of trading.
A club statement said: “It is with great sadness that I must inform you that seOne [has] ceased trading.
“After eight years, seOne London has fallen victim to the recession and hard times felt in nightclubs all over the UK.”
Errol Davis was gunned down at the 3,000-capacity club in the early hours of October 5, 2008.
After the shooting, Southwark police asked Lib Dem/Tory-run Southwark council to review the club’s licence to operate.
Southwark council’s planning committee demanded seOne management install “airport” security measures.
They included electronic search arches that could detect guns and knives.
Full identity checks were also introduced at the club.
Suspected hitman Taureen Taylor, 25, from Rye Hill Park in Peckham Rye, has been charged with murdering Mr Davis.
He has also been charged with the murder of Larry Safie, a student who was gunned down in Barry Road, East Dulwich, on February 22.
His trial is set for the Old Bailey on June 21.
